Dr. Oren Lerman: A facelift operation might be the right operation if
you're bothered by the signs of aging in your face and neck. Some of these
signs include, sagging of the skin, deep wrinkles beneath the eyes, or deep
fold between the cheek and the jawline.
Also, with a facelift, sometimes we do a neck lift at the same time. Signs
of an aging neck include baggy skin, or fat beneath the chin, or folds in
your neck. Sometimes people are concerned that they have what appears to
be a double chin, even though they are not overweight. A facelift and neck
lift can correct these areas. A facelift can also correct fat that has
fallen or is displaced, or loss of muscle tone in the lower face that
creates jowls. When we do a facelift, we try to elevate the soft tissue of
the face, and improve the volume of the cheeks, and give that more youthful
appearance.
You're a good candidate for a facelift if you're physically fit, if you
don't smoke, and you have a positive outlook and realistic expectations
about improving your appearance.
