Liposuction is a surgery that reduces fat deposits, especially stubborn ones that will not go away through diet and exercise. Liposuction is a relatively simple surgical procedure that is not intended as a weight loss surgery, rather as a body sculpting method. Dr. Lerman offers a variety of liposuction methods to help contour your body, including the innovative ultrasound liposuction.

Many people have areas of their body with a little bit of extra fat or a
little bulge that they just can't seem to get rid of no matter how hard
they try in the gym or with losing weight. Liposuction is an operation
where we take a tiny incision through the skin and insert a small cannula,
and then suck out some of the extra fat in those areas that you're
concerned with.
Liposuction is a relatively minimally invasive procedure. Liposuction is
usually done under anesthesia. It has minimal down time. Usually the
recovery period is about a week, but the results of a liposuction take a
few weeks or a couple months before you can see the final product. I like
to think of liposuction as a tool to sculpt the body and give it that
contour that you've always wanted.
Liposuction is a good operation for somebody who is concerned about a few
problem areas. Liposuction is used to contour the shape of the body; it's
not really a weight-loss operation. And if you need to lose weight, then
you should lose weight first and then have liposuction later. We have a
variety of different methods of doing liposuction. Some of those newer
methods include ultrasound-assisted liposuction, where the skin is
tightened at the same time with the energy from the ultrasound.
But traditional liposuction is very effective in treating those few problem
areas of the body and giving you that contouring that you want.
