BRA Day (Breast Reconstruction Awareness) 2017
This year's BRA day (Breast Reconstruction Awareness) event was a resounding success thanks to patients like Alishia and others who told their stories about breast reconstruction after mastectomy for breast cancer or prophylactic mastectomy for the BRCA gene mutation. Not only did these brave women talk to everyone about their experience, they also had a 'Show & Tell' period to allow other patients to see the beautiful results they were able to recieve using the most advanced reconstructive techniques including breast implant reconstruction and natural tissue reconstruction like the DIEP flap or PAP flap.
Alicia had almost 80% chance of developing breast cancer given her BRCA + inherited gene and has now been able to reduce that risk to less than the normal average.
Thank you to all our patients who participated and the amazing turnout at the Lenox Hill Institute for Comprehensive Breast Care.
